I was in The Donut Lab creating a new flavor of Donut Bites requested by a client for a large event. I was inspired by the strawberry shortcake dessert. This is a bite size donut filled with a fresh strawberry filling then topped with strawberry shortcake crumble, fresh strawberry frosting and vanilla whip. It was damn yummy!

What people say
Barrio Donuts is a must-visit food stall in San Antonio for all donut lovers. Chef Gilbert Delepaz creates hand-crafted gourmet donuts that are simply irresistible. The lemon meringue donut is a personal favorite of the chef, and it's not hard to see why. The yeast donut filled with lemon curd, covered with honey vanilla glaze, topped with torched whipped meringue and more lemon curd is a perfect blend of sweet and tangy flavors.
But Barrio Donuts isn't just about delicious treats; they also give back to the community. They recently held a fundraiser pop-up event for the San Antonio Roundup where all proceeds from the sale of their feature donut, Manzanita Carmelo, were donated. And they didn't stop there; they also participated in a Fundraising Pop-Up Event for the same cause.
The creativity of Chef Gilbert Delepaz knows no bounds as he experiments with different flavors and toppings to create unique donuts like Mazapan Crunch Donuts - yeast donuts frosted with Mazapan-Cajeta peanut butter frosting and topped with peanut butter Mazapan candy, chopped walnut, and toffee bits.
Barrio Donuts even celebrates Pride events by debuting special donuts like Dark Lady Donut inspired by RuPaul's Drag Race All Star winner Chad Michaels' impersonation of Cher. With such dedication to their craft and community, Barrio Donuts is undoubtedly one of the best food stalls in San Antonio.
