♥️ ♦️ ♣️ very fun poker table cake! The inspiration pic the client sent was made with fondant, and I prefer not to work with it so I suggested buttercream based and they loved the outcome! Everything is completely edible (just not the wrapper on the chocolate poker chips). Edible playing cards, chocolate cigar, chocolate Yuengling beer bottle y todo! I loved making this, it was so fun to play around with these little embellishments.

2025, what a year! This year, I rarely turned away any orders and I am so proud of that. If I did turn down an order it was either because I was fully booked or not in town. I am eternally grateful that my little biz kept me *mostly* afloat this year and introduced me to many new clients/friends 🎂 I baked 216 orders, of which 7 were wedding cakes! That number does not include countless bake sales (iykyk) and a couple pop ups.
Gorda Bakes is sacred to me. She reminds me everyday of my strengths, my creativity, my childlike whimsy, my flavor for life, my hustle that seems to never burn out. Although 2026 will look very different, I can’t wait to continue to create cakes for you all! 💞
Next year, baking will no longer be my full time job, as I’ve accepted a position with an insurance firm in client services! This job will afford me some long overdue financial freedom and rest- I won’t need to bake for hours on end at the expense of my feet and back (ouchies!). I will still keep baking, just on a smaller scale, so if you know you’ll need a cake this year, let me know asap so we can get you on the calendar. 🩷

….. and I’m still working through those September bday cakes! Next up is my mommie’s birthday cake!!!! She requested cowgirl disco and I thought it would be the perfect time for me to do a cow print cake. I’ve been dying to try my hand at cow print and I think this came out fabulous. Especially with the lil 🌵🌵💞

I DAYDREAM of this German chocolate cake!!!! I grew up with my mom always whipping up a lil box mix cake and some of that canned coconut pecan frosting. German chocolate has a soft spot in my heart forever! And now I make it homemade and it is top tier! The coconut pecan custard frosting is a little tedious to make because it involves tempering eggs, but the cream effort is soooo worth it. I always eat the leftover topping by the spoonful. It’s so perfect 🤩

Taylor Swift & dinosaur themed birthday cake for my friends SJ + Trina. Yall don’t come for me- I’m behind on posting cakes I’ve done this year 😂 I’m working through September cakes now obviously 🥲 For this cake I was given creative freedom with literally two pieces of information “Trina loves taylor swift and SJ loves dinosaurs” 🦖
I’m not a swiftie in any sense but I adore the friendship bracelet aspect of her most recent tour and have loooooved seeing them replicated into cake art. I used a mix of cute confections I had to make the “bracelet” and I think it turned out darling. The dinosaurs are poquito gordo and I LUV THEM. 🦖🩷🦖🩷🦖🩷🦖🩷🦖

Cake story time!
I debated posting this because cake mistakes/mishaps are the bane of my existence and I don’t want anyone to think this happens often. I baked my friend’s birthday cake back in September, Black Forest decorated with two tones of green, edible butterflies, glitter, and juicy red cherries. We gathered at Pluckers for her birthday dinner so I was in charge of taking the cake with me. When I travel with cakes, I will drive like I have a baby on board- under the speed limit, no sharp turns, and constantly checking on it to make sure it’s not shifting. I rarely have any trouble traveling with cakes, but of course as my luck would have it, I was cut off IN THE PARKING LOT OF PLUCKERS and had to slam my brakes and the cake slid off the cake board and smushed up against the box and damaged my beautiful piping 😭I felt horrible because my friend deserved the perfect cake and I was literally steps away. When I got to the table she was just so happy to be amongst sweet friends and delicious cake 🥺 We enjoyed a yummy dinner and the cake was a showstopper even if a little messy!

Baby girl’s Berry Sweet cake was vanilla with strawberry filling & mama’s cake was my Mexican hot chocolate specialty! It’s a slightly spicy hot chocolate cake with Mexican chocolate ganache & mini marshmallows filling ☕️ 🍫

To reach the food delivery service and dessert restaurant, take the 281 highway towards downtown San Antonio. Exit at E Hildebrand Ave and continue on Hildebrand until you reach Broadway St. Turn left on Broadway St and drive for a few more blocks until you see the location on your left-hand side.
For public transport, take bus number 9 from downtown San Antonio towards Alamo Heights. Get off at the intersection of Broadway & Griffin Streets and walk south until you reach the location, which should be a short distance away.
If driving, there is street parking available along Broadway St. However, it can get busy during peak hours so finding a spot may require patience or luck. Alternatively, there is a parking lot located behind the building accessible via West Courtland Pl where customers can park for free.
