Dear Vegan Avenue Family,
After six incredible years of serving our San Antonio community, we never imagined we would have to share a message like this.
For the past six years, Vegan Avenue has been more than just a restaurant to us. It has been our dream, our livelihood, and a place where we’ve poured our hearts, countless hours of work, and everything we have into creating something special.
We’ve watched families grow, made wonderful friendships, and shared so many beautiful moments with the people who have walked through our doors.
Unfortunately, we’re now facing one of the most difficult challenges in our six years of business, and we want to share what’s been happening behind the scenes.
A few weeks ago, we unexpectedly received a 30-day notice to vacate the restaurant space we’ve called home for six years.
With very little time to make such a major transition, we began looking for a way to keep Vegan Avenue open and continue serving our community.
We were then offered the opportunity to move into the space next door. Believing we had found a solution, we immediately began preparing that location, investing our own money, purchasing materials, and beginning the necessary work to turn it into our new restaurant.
We spent nearly $8,000 preparing that space.
Then, after the work had already begun and the money had been invested, we were informed that we would no longer be able to occupy it.
Just like that, the plan we had been working toward was no longer an option.
We were left facing the loss of our current location, thousands of dollars in unexpected expenses, and the overwhelming reality of having to start over somewhere else.
This was never a move we planned or wanted to make under these circumstances.
But giving up on Vegan Avenue was never something we wanted to consider.
And today, despite everything, we have some hopeful news to share.
❤️ WE HAVE FOUND A NEW HOME FOR VEGAN AVENUE!
📍 226 E Olmos Dr, San Antonio, TX 78212
Thankfully, our new location isn’t far from our current restaurant, which means we’ll still be close to the wonderful community that has supported us throughout these years.
However, while we’re incredibly grateful to have found another space, the road to reopening is going to be much more challenging than we originally anticipated.
Our new location needs an extensive remodel.
The space is missing walls, restrooms and much of the infrastructure needed to operate a restaurant. We now have to take on a major renovation, build out the interior, prepare the kitchen, relocate our equipment, and complete everything necessary to safely open our doors.
After already investing nearly $8,000 into the neighboring space we can no longer use, the financial burden of starting over has become incredibly difficult for our small business.
What we hoped would be a simple transition has turned into rebuilding Vegan Avenue almost from the ground up.
And this is why, we’re asking our community for help. ❤️
We are starting a fundraiser to help cover the unexpected costs of moving, construction, renovations, equipment relocation, and everything needed to bring Vegan Avenue back to life.
But our biggest concern isn’t just rebuilding our restaurant. It’s also taking care of the people who have helped us build it.
Our employees have been an essential part of Vegan Avenue’s journey. They’ve worked alongside us, served our community, and helped make this restaurant what it is today.
With our temporary closure approaching and no confirmed reopening date, we’re deeply concerned about the financial impact this transition may have on our team.
A portion of the funds raised will also go toward helping provide financial support and continued pay for our employees during the temporary closure, as our resources allow.
We don’t want the people who have stood beside us throughout this journey to be left without support because of circumstances beyond their control.
Your donations won’t just help us build walls, move equipment, and reopen our doors. They’ll also help us support the people behind Vegan Avenue while we work toward welcoming our community back.
Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help us get one step closer to reopening while doing everything we can to take care of our team along the way.
We know times are difficult for everyone, and asking for donations isn’t something we take lightly. We’ve always worked hard to build this restaurant through our own efforts, and reaching out for financial support is not easy.
But we also know that Vegan Avenue has become something bigger than just us.
It’s a place where people have come together, discovered plant-based food, celebrated special occasions, and created memories.
If Vegan Avenue has ever meant something to you, we’re asking you to help us keep it going.
Whether it’s a donation of $5, $10, $20, or simply sharing our story, every bit of support will help us move closer to reopening.
We also welcome support from local businesses, contractors, and anyone who may be able to help with materials, equipment, or services needed for the renovation.
As of right now, October 31st is the expected last day serving customers at our current location.
We would love to see as many of you as possible before we close these doors for the last time. Whether you stop by for your favorite meal, bring a friend, or simply come say hello, your support during these final days would mean so much to us.
Because our new location requires extensive construction and renovations, we do not have a confirmed reopening date yet.
There may be a period of time when Vegan Avenue will be temporarily closed while we work on getting our new home ready. We promise to keep you updated throughout the process and share our reopening plans as soon as we have a clearer timeline.
Six years of memories, sacrifices, and hard work cannot simply disappear because we have to leave a building.
Vegan Avenue has always been about more than four walls. It’s about the food we love creating, the people we serve, and the community that has supported us from the beginning.
We may be losing the location we’ve called home for six years, but we refuse to let go of the dream we’ve worked so hard to build.
This is not goodbye. This is Vegan Avenue fighting for its next chapter.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for six beautiful years of love and support.
We hope you’ll stand beside us as we rebuild.
With love and gratitude,
The Vegan Avenue Family ❤️
