Have a mug on us this Father’s Day.
To celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, mentors, and father figures who make a difference every day, all dads are invited to enjoy a complimentary mug of Schilo’s root beer with purchase on Sunday.
We’d also like to recognize Bill Lyons—our guiding star, whose generosity, faith, leadership, and example of fatherhood have shaped not only his family, but our entire company and generations of guests.
Celebrate Father’s Day the Schilo’s way. We’ll save you a seat. 🍺

We stand the test of time.
Schilo’s started as a beloved saloon in the early 1900s, serving up Mama Schilo’s classic German recipes. However, when prohibition hit and most saloons were forced to shut down, Schilo’s adapted. Beer kegs rolled out, and homemade root beer kegs rolled in.
After three generations of Schilo family ownership, the Lyons family took over in 1980, preserving the tradition of German food and hospitality.
Today, Schilo’s stands proudly as the oldest restaurant in San Antonio, serving guests from around the world the best authentic German food conveniently located in the heart of the city.

The best meals start with a good decision.
At Schilo’s, that decision is usually an order of deviled eggs. Creamy, savory, and made for sharing (though we won’t judge if you keep them all to yourself).
What’s your must-order starter?

German restaurants are known for their hearty and flavorful dishes, and Schilo's in San Antonio is no exception. This family-owned and operated establishment has been serving up delicious German and American cuisine since the early 1900s. From their famous split pea soup to their mouth-watering sandwiches, Schilo's offers a variety of options that will satisfy any craving.
The history of Schilo's is as rich as its food. Originally a saloon in Beeville, Texas, the business moved to San Antonio in 1914 and opened as a delicatessen the same year. Despite facing challenges such as Prohibition and the Great Depression, Schilo's persevered and continued to serve its loyal customers.
Today, Schilo's is located on Commerce Street in San Antonio and still maintains its German roots with traditional dishes like sausages, schnitzel, and potato salad. The restaurant also offers American favorites such as burgers and fries.
Whether you're looking for a quick lunch or a sit-down dinner with friends and family, Schilo's is the perfect spot. With its cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, it's no wonder why this restaurant has been a staple in San Antonio for over a century.
