One of downtown New Braunfels’ most iconic landmarks is officially reopening its doors.

The historic Faust Hotel announced it will reopen to the public on Tuesday, May 19 after being closed for renovations since 2023. Originally opened in 1929, the reimagined property now features 45 renovated guest rooms, an upgraded lobby bar, a refreshed Magnolia Patio, Walter’s Speakeasy, and a new restaurant called Wilhelm & Werner.

The reopening marks a major moment for downtown, bringing new life to one of the city’s most recognizable historic buildings while preserving a piece of New Braunfels history for the next generation.

Originally opened in 1929 as the Travelers Hotel, The Faust Hotel was renamed in 1936 after Mr. Faust. During World War II, it became known as the “honeymoon capital of Texas,” where soldiers stationed nearby would marry their brides before heading off to war. In 1985, it was recognized as a Texas Historic Landmark and added to the National Register of Historic Places.
