What people say

Tex-mex restaurants are known for their delicious blend of Texan and Mexican cuisine, offering a unique and flavorful dining experience. Casa Rio, located on E Commerce Street in San Antonio, is a prime example of a tex-mex restaurant that truly stands out from the rest.

Founded in 1946 by Alfred F. Beyer, Casa Rio has a rich history that adds to its charm. The restaurant is situated on land that was first granted title in 1777 by the King of Spain, and the Spanish Colonial period hacienda still serves as the core of the business. The cedar door and window lintels, fireplace, and thick rock walls are all still visible inside the building, creating an authentic atmosphere that transports diners back in time.

What sets Casa Rio apart from other tex-mex restaurants is its location right on the Riverwalk. In fact, it was the first San Antonio business to open its doors to the River and take advantage of its setting. Canoes, gondolas, paddle boats - all started here and helped create the Riverwalk we know today.

But what about the food? Casa Rio does not disappoint in this department either. From sizzling fajitas to mouth-watering enchiladas, every dish is bursting with flavor and made with fresh ingredients. And let's not forget about their famous margaritas - they're simply unbeatable!

Overall, Casa Rio offers a one-of-a-kind dining experience that combines history, culture, and delicious food all in one place. It's no wonder why it's been a beloved San Antonio institution for over 70 years!
