Resistance: Origin & Gender In The Zapatista Movement.
Photographs by Paula Ramirez. Opening reception, Friday, June 21st at 6 pm. Q&A at 7 pm. Join us for a discussion of the prominence of women in the Zapatista Army for National Liberation (EZLN) from its origins in the state of Chiapas, Mexico, to the present day. The Compañeras have been a fundamental part of the organizational efforts within their indigenous communities of Chiapas as well as participants in the worldwide fight for women's rights. Paula's photos will be on exhibit at the ESB Mexican American Cultural Center in Austin, TX til Saturday, July 27th.
