Bliss General Manager Dorian Mills recently announced that he’s retiring at the end of May — which means you only have a week to come bid him farewell!

During his 15 years at Bliss, Dorian has overseen every imaginable aspect of operations — from working the line and charming guests to juggling suppliers and contractors. In short: he will be greatly missed.

“These 15 years have been nothing short of magical and I take great pride in having helped make Bliss what it is today,” Dorian said. “I’d like to sincerely thank everyone — our staff, our regulars, our community — for making Bliss such a special place in San Antonio. I have the utmost faith in Owner and Executive Chef Tony Hernandez and I’m excited for him to lead Bliss into its next chapter.”

As for Dorian’s future plans, they largely revolve around rest and relaxation. “There’ll be some decompressing,” he said. A soccer fanatic, Dorian is excited about the World Cup coming up this summer, getting back on his bicycle and hopping on planes to visit friends old and new.

The menu for our New Year’s Eve celebration has dropped — and it does not disappoint! Priced at $150 per person with two-hour seatings between 5:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. (with the 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. slots guaranteeing stellar views of downtown fireworks from our parking lot), the prix fixe menu features Bliss classics old and new — from oyster sliders and beef short ribs to ahi tuna tartare and hanger steak (not to mention our signature butter cake). An off-menu feature that’s generating some serious buzz, Bliss Executive Chef Tony Hernandez’s take on ahi tuna tartare is a symphony of flavors and textures thanks to a winning combination of sushi-grade ahi tuna, coconut milk with citrus and shio koji, crispy shiso leaf, avocado mousse, Osetra caviar, salmon roe, microgreens and edible flowers. As for its artful plating … some of our servers have even likened it to a “fairy forest.” 🧚
