Mr. & Mrs. G’s Home Cooking and Pastries was a soul food restaurant located on S. Ww White Road, celebrated for its legendary dishes created by the Garners as a tribute to their heritage and love for San Antonio. Customers could call in orders to experience soul food at its finest. Debra Thomas took over the baking duties after Mrs. G became ill, gaining recognition for her exceptional black people pound cake along with other desserts like German chocolate cake and various cobblers. The restaurant engaged with its community through social media posts that highlighted special offerings, catering services, and personal messages honoring Mr. G's legacy.

Unfortunately, Mr. & Mrs. G’s Home Cooking and Pastries has been permanently closed.

We are putting together a Mr. & Mrs. G’s Legacy Day—a special weekend pop-up celebrating the home cooking, pastries, and memories that served San Antonio for 32 years. 🤎 We do not have a set date yet. Follow for more information.

We’re thinking about bringing back some old favorites:

Ham hocks • Pig feet • Smothered steak • Smothered pork chops • Catfish • Liver & onions • Turkey & dressing • Enchiladas • Salmon croquettes • Meatloaf • that Fried Chicken

Black-eyed peas • Yams • Okra gumbo • Green beans • Mashed potatoes • Creamed corn • Rice • Collard greens • Cabbage • Cornbread • Pone bread • Mac & Cheese • potato salad

Peach cobbler • Banana pudding • German chocolate cake • Pound cakes • Tea cakes • Pecan pie • Sweet potato pie • Apple pie • Peach pie • Cherry pie

And of course: Kool-Aid, sweet tea, and lemonade.

These will all be to-go plates, so don’t worry—we won’t be charging the 25¢ (or was it 28¢? 😂) Mr. G used to charge for his Styrofoam plates and bags!

MR. & MRS. G’S FAMILY — HELP ME DECIDE ❤️

These are the last pieces of furniture from Mr. & Mrs. G’s Homecooking and Pastries.

If you remember the restaurant, you may remember this little table and these chairs. They sat right by the door at 2222 S. W.W. White Rd.

After all these years, I’ve decided it’s time to give them a little love and restore them — but I can’t decide what I want to do with them.

So I thought, why not ask the people who loved Mr. & Mrs. G’s too?
