My mom was totally against us having Iced Chai on the menu. In India, chai is always served piping hot, and if the chai is cold, you toss it. It is just not culturally a thing to drink iced chai. But knowing how popular it is in America, I told my mom we had to try it.
So 3 days before we opened the restaurant, she agreed, but she said, ‘I want to decide how we do it.’ No concentrate, no mixes, none of that.
We make it authentically the Indian way, in house. We boil the tea leaves, water, milk, and homemade chai masala using my mom’s secret recipe. Don’t tell her I told you. Then we cool the whole thing down, so the chai is not a concentrate, it is actual Indian chai.

From 7 Monk’s to Everest Base Camp at 17,600 Feet!
Before setting off on her trek to Everest Base Camp, one of our customers mentioned that Dal-Bhaat would be the only food provided on the trek. We suggested taking some spicy garlic peanut dry chutney, that we specially prepared for her trek, to add some flavor to the bland Dal-Bhaat combo.
A few days after her return she shared with us a pic and clip of our chutney packet at the Everest Base Camp with the comment “Thank you for making me these ‘spicy’! I shared with everyone so everyone was very grateful”
We felt so happy to know that a small batch product from 7 Monk’s added a little extra flavor to the trek!
