🎊Have you tried our Crazy Good Tostones?
While they look like large bananas with thicker skins, raw green plantains are bitter, very starchy, and taste similar to a raw potato.
❤️We love them because they are a non-seasonal crop, meaning they are harvested and available throughout the year.
⁉️Did you know: Plantains originated in Southeast Asia around 10,000 years ago, before spreading to Africa and eventually to the Americas during the colonial era. In tropical cuisines across West Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America, they function much more as a staple cooking vegetable than a sweet fruit.
🤔🤔Don't know what to look for when shopping at the store?? Here's some things to consider:
The Three Stages of Ripeness
1) Green (Unripe): Firm and starchy with a potato-like flavor; used in savory dishes like fried tostones. (That's how we serve them!!)
2) Yellow (Ripe): Mildly sweet with brownish spots; good for baking or grilling.
3) Black (Very Ripe): Soft and very sweet; often used in desserts or fried as sweet maduros.
🌱💚Plantains are rich sources of dietary fiber, potassium, magnesium, and vitamins A, C, and B6.

Sadly, since we began in 2018 we have seen all the vegan food trucks close shop or move cities.
We are grateful to STILL be here serving this city some delicious comfort food that HAPPENS to be vegan!! 🍔🥗🥪🌯🍟
